Remembering a beautiful fall wedding…

Last October I had the honor of making a wedding cake for one of the nicest couples I have ever met!

They wanted something a little different and fun and this is what we came up with…

Polk Wedding

Cupcakes!

To give their guests the ultimate variety, the bride and groom chose four different flavors for the cupcakes.  All were iced with Vanilla Buttercream the was colored to match the beautiful wedding colors.

Keeping with southern tradition, they also had a groom’s cake.  Since the groom was almost as big of a Tennessee fan as I am a Virginia Tech fan he was very excited about his cake!

He chose his favorite flavor cake, peanut butter, for this one.

The location of the wedding was an absolutely beautiful farm that was purchased by a couple for the soul purpose of providing a rustic setting for weddings and other events.  Jeremy and Sarah Oehling have done an amazing job creating Starlight Meadow!  If you are looking for a rustic setting for your wedding you should definitely check them out!

Even though this wedding was during the weekend of Hurricane Sandy the atmosphere was true to the couple’s nature.  Fun, happy, and energetic.  Their photographer, Tina Marsh Photography, did a great job capturing the day!

A note to Chelsea and Trevor:

I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!

Oh, and since I saw from your photos that you cut into that top tier, I’ll be hearing from you on your 1st anniversary!

All the best,

Bridgid

A very unique wedding!

Cupcakes for wedding cakes have become very popular.  I have wanted to do a cupcake wedding, so imagine my surprise and excitement when I booked TWO cupcake weddings!

The first was for a very unique wedding.   The lovely couple has been together for a while and was taking a fun approach to their wedding…tie dye!

The bride sent me a picture of her tie-dyed wedding dress and asked me to use the colors in the cupcakes and…

here they are!

Here is a closeup…

I was very excited for how they turned out and they were a big hit!

I have done lots of traditional wedding cakes, but these were definitely different and fun to do!

Two more weeks until the next cupcake wedding!!!!

My baby sister is married!

It was an extended weekend full of family, friends, laughter, and tears (the good kind)!

We all came together to celebrate the marriage of my sister, Molly Buckley, and her groom John Stillman (my new brother-in-law!).  They were married at New Hope Church, in Durham, NC.  There ceremony was an amazing combination of theater, family, and religion.  A perfect fit for both of them, and unforgettable for the rest of us!  My 19 month old son even managed to walk down the aisle, cleaning up the flower girl’s rose petals along the way.

After the vows were said and pictures were taken we continued the celebration at The Big Barn in Hillsborough, NC.  The reception was a beautiful country theme that was completely designed and produced by Molly.  She did such an amazing job that it was quite a task to make a wedding cake, and surprise groom’s cake, that lived up to it’s surroundings.

Fortunately, although they were perplexed on how to cut it, they were happy with the outcome!

I even got kudos from their incredible photographer, Katelyn James!

It was a weekend  I will never forget and feel so honored to be given the privelage to make their wedding cake!

Thanks Molly & John, I love you both very much!

My sister is getting married!

In just 17 days my little sister, Molly Buckley,  will be marrying a great guy!  Wow!  And if that is not special enough, I had the privilege of giving her a bridal shower!  This, of course, included making her bridal shower cake.  It had to be something that fit Molly perfectly.  Since she LOVES anything pink and is a Phi Mu girl, this is what I came up with.

She loved it!

I now have the exciting task of creating their perfect wedding cake!

Wish me luck!
