Little Miss Lilly is one year old!

My sweet little niece turned a year old.   It goes without saying that she will have free birthday cakes from her Auntie Bridgid for her entire life!   And because she is so cute, and I am such a pushover, I will make her whatever she wants.   Now, being only a year old, she did not pick out her own design.  This year my sister got to do it for her.  My sister, Molly Stillman, is super knowledgable on all things fashion and design and LOVES Lilly Pulitzer, so she took this opportunity to give Lilly an adorable party.  You can see the pictures of her beautiful decorations on her blog http://www.stillbeingmolly.com .

So back to the subject at hand….the cake!   The Lulu Lilly pattern was the inspiration.

Happy Birthday sweet girl!  I can’t wait to see what next year’s cake looks like.

A fun new cake trend!

There are a couple of fun cake trends right now that, when put together, make for a beautiful cake!

An ombre cake is one that has a gradation, from dark to light or light to dark, of any color.

Ombre Ruffles

A rose cake is a cake that has been completely covered in icing rosettes.

Put these two techniques together and you get a beautiful Ombre Rose cake!

This cake is great as is, or you can add your own personal touch.   I just delivered this particular one to a young lady’s birthday party at Rol-A-Rink skating center in High Point.

It is Red Velvet cake, Cream Cheese icing filling, and Vanilla Buttercream frosting.

She was having a snowflake themed birthday party so I added some white chocolate snowflakes!

Pick your favorite cake, filling, and frosting flavors and your favorite color and PRESTO, you have a perfect cake for your next celebration!

A very unique wedding!

Cupcakes for wedding cakes have become very popular.  I have wanted to do a cupcake wedding, so imagine my surprise and excitement when I booked TWO cupcake weddings!

The first was for a very unique wedding.   The lovely couple has been together for a while and was taking a fun approach to their wedding…tie dye!

The bride sent me a picture of her tie-dyed wedding dress and asked me to use the colors in the cupcakes and…

here they are!

Here is a closeup…

I was very excited for how they turned out and they were a big hit!

I have done lots of traditional wedding cakes, but these were definitely different and fun to do!

Two more weeks until the next cupcake wedding!!!!
