A baby shower for a fun client!

There is this terrific family that KNOWS how to throw a great party when they have something to celebrate!  I was first contacted by a woman from this family two years ago because she was having a retirement party for her dad.  But not just any ordinary retirement party…a 500 guest formal shindig at the Grandover Resort!  So, of course the cake could not just be any ordinary cake.

Well a few months ago I was contacted by this wonderful lady again because she had something else to celebrate…she is pregnant!!!  A plan was in the works to revel the gender to her family and she wanted to do it with cake.  How fun!

So, of course, with a baby girl on the way, there must be a baby shower fit for this family.  They had the shower at 200 Steele in High Point, which was a gorgeous setting!  The shower’s them was “Under the Sea” and she had beautiful invitations, so I wanted to take inspiration from both and create a wonderful cake for her.

Congratulations Wilson Family!  I can’t wait to see what you do for her first birthday!

Happy 100th Birthday OREO!

Cakes by B is celebrating the 100th birthday of the OREO cookie with a decadent new cupcake!

And here it is….

A Devil’s Food cupcake with a DOUBLE STUFFED OREO cookie baked right into it!  It is topped with a cream cheese frosting and a sprinkling of Oreo cookie crumbs.   Yummm!

Have these displayed at your next get together and I guarantee they won’t last long!

It’s Ladies Night!

Kids-R-Kids hosted “Ladies Night” last night.  The night was filled with great shopping, great food, great drinks, great friends, and you guessed it…great cake from Cakes by B!

The cakes featured were:

Cocktail Cupcakes (Strawberry Margarita, Mojito, and Cosmopolitan)

Cake Truffles (Devil’s Food Cake with Cookies & Cream, and Moist Yellow Cake with Vanilla Buttercream)

And a Baby Shower Cake for display

It was great fun and two lucky winners got to take some treats home!

A baby rattle with an unexpected reaction!

The cake was a big hit.  Although the mom-to-be loved it when she saw it, she could not enjoy tasting it because SHE WENT INTO LABOR!  So as she headed off to the hospital everyone at the shower enjoyed it for her!

Now that the baby festivities are over it is time to move onto pirates.  That’s right, a little girl is turning 7 this week and is having a pirate birthday party.

Hopefully the cake is to her liking, or I may have to walk the plank!
