A cake you can see a mile away!

I love creating topsy turvy cakes!

So I was very excited when I got a request for a topsy turvy cake decorated with NEON colored icing.  This was definitely the brightest icing I have ever worked with!

What a fun cake for a kid’s birthday party at Airbound Trampoline Park!  These colors would be perfect for any spring or summer celebration too!

Remembering a beautiful fall wedding…

Last October I had the honor of making a wedding cake for one of the nicest couples I have ever met!

They wanted something a little different and fun and this is what we came up with…

Polk Wedding

Cupcakes!

To give their guests the ultimate variety, the bride and groom chose four different flavors for the cupcakes.  All were iced with Vanilla Buttercream the was colored to match the beautiful wedding colors.

Keeping with southern tradition, they also had a groom’s cake.  Since the groom was almost as big of a Tennessee fan as I am a Virginia Tech fan he was very excited about his cake!

He chose his favorite flavor cake, peanut butter, for this one.

The location of the wedding was an absolutely beautiful farm that was purchased by a couple for the soul purpose of providing a rustic setting for weddings and other events.  Jeremy and Sarah Oehling have done an amazing job creating Starlight Meadow!  If you are looking for a rustic setting for your wedding you should definitely check them out!

Even though this wedding was during the weekend of Hurricane Sandy the atmosphere was true to the couple’s nature.  Fun, happy, and energetic.  Their photographer, Tina Marsh Photography, did a great job capturing the day!

A note to Chelsea and Trevor:

I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!

Oh, and since I saw from your photos that you cut into that top tier, I’ll be hearing from you on your 1st anniversary!

All the best,

Bridgid

A baby shower for a fun client!

There is this terrific family that KNOWS how to throw a great party when they have something to celebrate!  I was first contacted by a woman from this family two years ago because she was having a retirement party for her dad.  But not just any ordinary retirement party…a 500 guest formal shindig at the Grandover Resort!  So, of course the cake could not just be any ordinary cake.

Well a few months ago I was contacted by this wonderful lady again because she had something else to celebrate…she is pregnant!!!  A plan was in the works to revel the gender to her family and she wanted to do it with cake.  How fun!

IT’S A GIRL!!!

So, of course, with a baby girl on the way, there must be a baby shower fit for this family.  They had the shower at 200 Steele in High Point, which was a gorgeous setting!  The shower’s them was “Under the Sea” and she had beautiful invitations, so I wanted to take inspiration from both and create a wonderful cake for her.

Congratulations Wilson Family!  I can’t wait to see what you do for her first birthday!

A very unique wedding!

Cupcakes for wedding cakes have become very popular.  I have wanted to do a cupcake wedding, so imagine my surprise and excitement when I booked TWO cupcake weddings!

The first was for a very unique wedding.   The lovely couple has been together for a while and was taking a fun approach to their wedding…tie dye!

The bride sent me a picture of her tie-dyed wedding dress and asked me to use the colors in the cupcakes and…

here they are!

Here is a closeup…

I was very excited for how they turned out and they were a big hit!

I have done lots of traditional wedding cakes, but these were definitely different and fun to do!

Two more weeks until the next cupcake wedding!!!!

A birthday cake for a Harry Potter fan!

I recently received a request for a special birthday cake from a young man that was traveling all the way from Pennsylvania for his girlfriend’s birthday, here in Greensboro!  It was a Red Velvet cake with Vanilla Buttercream icing, and here it is!

The cake was a big hit with the birthday girl and everyone at the party.  Here is what he had to say the next day…

“Thanks for the cake!!! It turned out to be a huge hit, everyone was very impressed with the craftsmanship and the excellent taste :). You are my go-to cake maker!!! 5 stars service!”

Thanks Justin!

No matter your age, having a birthday cake based on your favorite book, movie, or character is always fun!

What would be your favorite to have on your next birthday cake?

Happy 2nd Birthday Kyle!

I just finished a birthday cake for my most important client…my son.

Today is his 2nd birthday!

His 1st birthday cake was fun to do, but I REALLY like how this one turned out!

The cake design was inspired by his love for “pish” (fish), “octpus” (octopus), “eeeeeeeels” (eels), and “sharks”.

He is napping now and should be surprised to find this waiting for him.  Hopefully it won’t be completely dismantled before dinner!

Happy Birthday Kyle!

Piper’s fun birthday cakes!

I have created some fun birthday cakes for a special little girl, named Piper, over the past several years.  She is lucky to have a very creative mom that has come up with these great design ideas!

These were fun to create but the best part has always been seeing Piper’s face when I bring the cake to her party!

Use this as inspiration to go crazy with your next birthday cake!  Wether your having a backyard cook out or a party at Jump-N-Fun there is no limit to how fun the cake can be!

Happy 100th Birthday OREO!

Cakes by B is celebrating the 100th birthday of the OREO cookie with a decadent new cupcake!

And here it is….

A Devil’s Food cupcake with a DOUBLE STUFFED OREO cookie baked right into it!  It is topped with a cream cheese frosting and a sprinkling of Oreo cookie crumbs.   Yummm!

Have these displayed at your next get together and I guarantee they won’t last long!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OREO!
